CAOBISCO welcomes the objective of the European Commission Proposal for a Directive on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence that aims to improve the EU regulatory framework on company law and corporate governance. CAOBISCO supports European Commission’s intention to put forward a proposal for a mandatory due diligence legislation as part of their Sustainable Corporate Governance initiative.
CAOBISCO supports an EU-wide mandatory due diligence approach for companies to identify, prevent, mitigate and account for actual or potential adverse impacts in their own operations or supply chains. As stated by the CAOBISCO Director General, Muriel Korter, “We welcome the publication of the European Commission’s proposal for an EU Directive on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence. New EU rules should work to strengthen greater collaboration and impactful actions to advance respect for human rights and the environment along our supply chains, as well as to promote greater transparency. We look forward to contributing to the next steps of the legislative process to shape an impactful EU legislation”.
